GameMaker Studio 1.4 EoL Upgrade: 30% Off

Following-on from last year’s announcement of GameMaker Studio 1.4 heading off into the sunset, we have continued to resolve critical issues, and support platform updates with Studio 1.4. However, this will come to an end on 31 July, 2018, meaning that while Studio 1.4 can still be used, it will no longer receive any updates, and we can no longer guarantee it will remain compatible with every platform’s future updates.

We are doing this to focus all our development efforts on GameMaker Studio 2, so it remains the best 2D Game Engine.

Last chance offer

If you currently rely on the updates for GameMaker Studio 1.4, then we would recommend that you upgrade to Studio 2. You will be in good company! Tens of thousands of Studio 1.4 customers changed to Studio 2 during our last upgrade offer, but we still hear from people who missed out. So, the good news is that we are giving you another chance to upgrade to Studio 2, during the Studio 1.4 sunset period. Over the coming months, we will offer the following discounts on upgrades:

  • Up until 31st March: 30% Discount
  • From 1st April to 31st May: 25% Discount
  • From 1st June to 31st August: 20% Discount

Why upgrade to Studio 2?

Firstly, it’s important to note that porting games from Studio 1.4 to Studio 2 is very straightforward. If you would like to find out more, we have a support article.

With a completely redesigned user interface, powerful new editors, enhanced monetization tools and more, GameMaker Studio 2 also introduces new features and improvements with:

  • Level editing features: new layer-based level editing gives developers the ability to create more complex visuals with backgrounds, tiles, instances, assets and paths. New features also include level inheritance to create multiple levels at once, and an advanced tiling system that automatically selects the right tile for the job;
  • Cross-platform: available for Windows (Vista and above) and Mac for target development across multiple platforms including Windows Desktop, Mac OS X, Ubuntu, iOS, Android (including Android TV, Amazon Fire and Fire TV), PlayStation 4, Xbox One and more;
  • Workflow enhancements: a new innovative workflow and seamless path from DnD™ to actual code with multiple workspaces, user definable resource views, real-time updates from one editor to another, and cross platform source level debugging;
  • Native extensions: GameMaker Language (GML) supports all native targets to simplify the cross-platform development.
