RedHero Review
By CJ Master on 09 November 2007

Pros: Multiple endings, destructible terrain, story, and makes you want to play again.

Cons: Graphics could be better (e.g. Explosions), Much too short in my taste, and only 3 dark powers.

Moving in a flash of red.

~Overall is not an average~

The land of Douton is in trouble, and it's up to you to save it. You must direct the "Pearls of Destruction" to expload where there is a blue pearl.

~Graphics - 4/6~

The graphics are average compared to other staff picks, however they have some neat details (such as leaving a trail when you jump, orbs are glowing, ext.) However it would be much better if you did 2 things: Improve the explosions, and don't put dark text above a dark background.

~Sound - 4/6~

Just your general sound... nothing special. +1 point for making explosions sound softer/louder depending on distance.

~Gameplay - 6/6~

As you read in the introduction, you have to guide the pearls to certain blocks without A) Killing yourself and B) Destroying the orbs. Basically, you have to collect 5 orbs then press space to got into the next level. However, if you don't press space, the remaining orbs will change black, and you can collect for a different ending and special powers.

~Story - 6/6~

Some of the best dialog you'll hear in a game maker game, period. Plus, there is a really nice twist at the end which I won't spoil for you.

~Interface 5/6~

Straightforward and easy. However the black text on a dark background is still an issue.

~Overall - 6/6~

This is an extremely recommended game, I only wish it was longer.
