Solar Security Review

Pros: Beautiful, simple graphics; complementing sound; innovative concept.
Cons: Only two game modes, repetitive gameplay.
Unique, Shiny, but Thin
Graphics: The forte of the game. The star is magnificent, the asteroids and force fields look good, and the main screen is very well done.
Sound: Nice animation sounds and BG music, but nothing to scream about. It's actually a plus, because the game isn't overwhelmed but annoying, monotonous effects repeating every millisecond.
Gameplay:
Pros: A unique concept. It strays away from the shooting aspect that you would expect from this kind of theme, which is part of what makes it a fun game. The upgrades also give you incentive to keep playing. The controls also work well. A highscore system is also a good aspect of the game.
Cons: There isn't much to be done. Pointless mode is a good way to learn the game and test its features. Score mode, the only other mode, dissapoints. There are only a few, predictable enemies, and the items dont seem to have much effect. The difficulty didnt seem to increase as the game went either. This leads to repetitive gameplaythat tests your endurance more than your reaction time. The speed of enemies also seemed to speed up to near unbeatable paces, only to slow back down. I couldnt tell if that was programming or lag, but it was odd. This is an incomplete game, though, so if more enemies, modes, and features are added, this game could get very good.
Story: Not too deep or involved, but a good setup to the game. It definitely got me excited to try it.
Interface: Instructions could be a little more descritpive. Also, a room with images describing the different items and enemies (i couldnt figure out which were good or bad) would be good. No glitches, thankfully, and a well made main menu.
Overall: 4 out of 6. Good test version, but not yet a filling game.
