Pros: creating your own track, The relaxing music, Great controls, awesome main menu screen
Cons: no proper story, a bit difficult
Rollercoasters rule
Coaster rider is a really innovative game that I found very enjoyable. The only annoying thing is the main game mode is too difficult. It took me ages to get through it, but it was still interesting to try out different ways of getting through it.
Graphics 4/6
The graphics are a little basic, but it doesn't really matter. Its still cool watching birds fly past, and the main menu is graphically amazing. Nothing special but good nonetheless.
Sound 5/6
Relaxing tunes and good sound effects go well together, sometimes you'll forget about the music though.
Gameplay 6/6
The main game is difficult, you have to design a track for a rollercoaster that allows it to get all the stars in the level, and to get to the flag at the end. Its fun but difficult, and very well thought out. But the highlight of the game is the game mode that allows you to create your own track. You can create it however you like and once you've finished, you watch the rollercoaster go along it. This adds infinite depth to the gameplay. Building tracks is simple, but at the same time complex. By that I mean building them is easy but building them well is difficult to understand. You draw the track as lines with the mouse and on the make your own track mode you can add turbos that increase the speed of the rollercoaster. I also found that building a line over the track stops the rollercoaster from going airborne.
Story 3/6
No real story except a bit about the train.
Interface 6/6
The controls are easy to get used to and clever, and the main menu screen looks amazing.
Overall 5/6
An amazing game and one of my all time favourites, keep up the good work.
