Mystical Ninja Arcade Review
By darkdude on 09 September 2007

Pros: online play, smooth gameplay, online highscores

Cons: no story mode, needs more game modes

Mystical Ninja Arcade

Graphics ( 5/6 ) : The graphics were nice and fit together well. The giant in Hide and Dust mode looks really creepy :P . The player sprites were also nice and the menu graphics were really good.

Sound (6/6) : The sounds were perfect. The background music was on-theme and there were plenty of sound effects.

Gameplay (4/6) : The most impressive part is the online play. However, there is no story mode. Also, the game needs more 'arcade' game modes, just like Hide and Dust and Baloon Saviour. (i guess you ARE going to add these extra game-modes because of the 'locked' buttons :) ). Plus, you should add more online play games.

Story (2/6) : There is no story, but since it's Mystical Ninja ARCADE I don't think it actually needs one. However, a story-mode would be a nice addition.

Interface (5/6): The menus were very nicely made, but the transitions were kinda slow. You should make the menu transitions a bit faster.

Overall (4/6) : This game has HUGE potential, because of it's smooth offline, but mostly online gameplay. More game modes (both online and offline) would make a great addition. Plus, the online highscores are a really good addition, making the game fully 'connected'. Good job!

Thanks this is a good detailed review and really helps me in terms of development. I agree with your point on the menu curtains. They move far too slowly. Yes there are more game modes coming. They may end up totalling 4 or 5 or 6. Two will have to be unlocked by playing online etc. Thanks for the review.
