Dominos Review
By theman on 07 May 2007

Pros: Very Addictive Fun graphics

Cons: No story Very few sounds

Good, not polished, time killer

Marbs isn't well-known in the Game Maker Community, something that surprises me. Hopefully his latest, and greatest, work - Dominos - will solve this problem. Using the infamous GMPhysics DLL, version 4, Marbs has created a clever little time waster that will have you scrathing your head in addictive frustration as your chosen ball rolls aimless from one side of the screen to the other. Sadly, this game could do with some improvement in the story area, for example, adding one to begin with. The same applies to sound effects that are mysteriously abscent, leaving me to trundle around in library-like silence. An explanation of the zany antics that ensue would be good, but I don't blame Marbs for not trying to explain the vivid world of Dominos. The graphics are gorgeous, all matching and suit the gameplay down to a tee. The controls, however, are not as sharp and tend to a bit woolly around the edges - this may be a result of the interaction betweem GMPhysics and Game Maker itself. Overall, Marbs has produced a great piece of work and has much potential for the future!

Thanks for a very honest reply. Yes, it is extremely lacking in sound (except for the boing from the spring). I've been trying to add sound, but it's hard to make the sound be played at the right time. Story mode also needs improvement, but I'm not sure what sort of story it could be. Any ideas would be appreaciated =)
