Pros: -Unique, incredibly fun gameplay. -Great background music and sounds. -Perfectly fitting graphics.
Cons: -No real plot yet. -Too short so far to know about any other problems.
GM or GBA?
Was this made in Game Maker or Gameboy Advanced? In fact it is almost impossible to tell. Purple is a platform game where your character's weapon is a boomerang-type ball. You use this to destroy blocks, enemies, what have you. Sounds boring? WRONG. This game is absolutely spectacular--for any game.
Graphics:
The graphics of Purple are cute, soft, and colorful, perfectly matching every aspect of the game. The animations when breaking a block are stellar and yo-yo-boomerang-frisbie-weapon thing always looks great. Plus after the level is over, your purple character does a little celebration no less satisfying than Sonic's little wag of the finger or Mario's peace sign. Nothing less than perfection.

Sound:
The music is just great. It fits the scene perfectly and is quite catchy in its own way, bringing an upbeat atmosphere to the already upbeat game. The sound effects are good, once again fitting to the game perfectly. If the creator can keep up the great music, this could easily get a perfect sound score in the final version.

Gameplay:
The gameplay of Purple is actually its strength, despite my raving in the Sounds and Graphics categories. The boomerang-ball feels so natural and so smooth; its movements are perfect and sometimes its simply fun to jump around throwing it to see how long you can keep going. If this game continues to add intuitive gameplay and original challenges to future levels, this would fit right up there with Mario and Sonic games--the real ones. In fact because of its originality, I would much rather play this at the moment.

Story:
No story yet. I hope the creator makes it interesting. Considering his/her talent in animation, short cut-scenes, following our little purple character's cute, colorful nature, would be excellent.

Interface:
Controls are easy and the load time is fine. Right now there is no title screen or anything, so it will be difficult to give this a true rating. However the ending of the first level fits everything well and I'm sure everything will be great. So, for now...
**** 4/6
Overall:
This game, when completed, could easily be on the Gameboy Advanced for its unique and fun gameplay, catchy music, and smooth, colorful graphics. If there is a good story, and good title screen, options, tutorials, and increase in difficulty as the game progresses, this could get a perfect score and be one of the great platform games. Please, for everyone, keep up the great work!
