Super Mario Bros: Shine Expedition Review
By smash ball on 30 June 2009

Pros: Hard good story easy to grasp concept

Cons: the game may get a little carried away with difficulty You can grab the powerup, leave the level, and re-enter the level and grab the powerup

The shines put themselves in hard to reach places

Items-There are many powerups that you can access, each doing a different thing. A with these comes a new powerup, Yoshi. Yoshi's animation could have been done better, he doesn't look like he fits in with the rest of the picture... Yoshi is just the same in Super Mario World, eats enemies, spits out shells. One good thing is Yoshi doesn't swallow an item.

Physics-The physics are overall, very good, jump and stuff. When climbing on the moving ropes, Mario can hit the top of the moving thing and fall into a pit. This is why I get aggravated at the part after the flower and hammer bricks in Mushroom Way. Mario can pickup stuff, everything whole bit. Mario jumps way to high if you hold down shift and jump on an enemy. I get used to the collision checking where Mario is near and enemy and dies. One time, I was playing Revenge of Bowser, I jumping and randomly I died, maybe I close to a bullet bill I hadn't seen? I didn't touch it. The hit the ceiling and fall straight down thing, not very good on a tight level. I am not very fond of that little collision checking.

Story line-Last time I checked, this isn't a legend of Zelda game where the game is the story. Collect 80 shines to kick Bowser out of the muchroom kingdom so he can't steal Peach or marry her. Why does Bowser steal Peach? You also have to collect blue coins to open new doors in the castle.

Difficulty-This completely depends on where your current position is in a level. You could get narrow blocks over a pit, or annoying moving ropes to jump all over with no ground. Or even a few koopas and goombas. The difficulty changes greatly, even in one level.
