Pros: Graphics, Gameplay, and Sound!
Cons: No music (yet), a couple of extremely minor glitches
Wonderful demo!
NOTE: For some reason, the maximum amount of Stars Yoyo is allowing me to rate with is 4, even though each category has 5 stars in it. So my true ratings are:
Graphics: 4/4
Sound: 3/4
Gameplay: 4/4
Story: 4/4
Interface: 4/4
Overall Rating: 4/4
Absolutely wonderful! The graphics are excellent and have nice animations, and I love the consistently cartoony style used throughout the game. The small extra effects you used, like Blastroid's bullets having a "motion blur," and little tufts of dirt flying up behind him as he walks, are very nice indeed. Your choices of sound effects fit great, even if some things are lacking sounds at all (such as cookies), and there doesn't seem to be any music yet -- but since this is just a demo, I'm sure you plan on adding that in the future, so there's no reason for me to nag about that. ;)
Now, enough about all that other stuff. Let's get to the most important part: the gameplay! I must say, this game is great fun to play. Story mode is fun on its own, especially since you gave it three difficulty settings, but to make things even better, you also added a Mission Mode! The level design in every level is simply superb, and I found myself overcoming fun challenges in every single stage. All the abilities each characters has are fantastic -- I love that Leo can spin his ears to fly (and sustain his flight by collecting cookies), and that Blastroid can walljump and shoot. That reminds me, though, I did notice one minor glitch: if you use Leo to fly all the way up to the ceiling, his Flight Meter will stop decreasing, allowing him to fly as long as you want. No big deal, though.
The HUB looks awesome, even if it's not finished yet (thanks very much for adding in a billboard helping advertise my upcoming game!). It's cool that the NPCs' dialogue appears automatically when you get close to them, and the Hints appearing in certain areas to help explain the gameplay is a very nice touch. Even the Title Screen looks awesome! I should point out one other tiny glitch I noticed, however: if you run out of lives while playing a level, once you return to the Title Screen, the Blastroid cursor disappears. Again, it's not a big deal, but you might want to fix that. :)
This is an absolutely outstanding demo. The cartoony, comical graphics are gorgeous, the gameplay is heaps of fun, and the interface is easy to understand. I can't wait to see what the full game will be like! Keep up the excellent work, dude! I rate this 4 out of 4!
