Jigoku Review

Pros: Ability to scare the player, creepiness, weapons, story.
Cons: Woah can your friends run, anti-climatic ending... no explanation???
Mysterious Death and Mayhem
Nice but... what happened?
I started up the game thinking, is it going to be another one of those tutorial edits or is it going to be something new and creative? I thought the latter immediately. The dark atmosphere was really nice and made you feel uneasy and instead of having one of those long introductions that some people really suck at perfecting, your almost straight into the action when your not expecting to.
GRAPHICS:
They were fine, I wouldn't expect any better quality but the fog played up a bit, but it did make it a bit more... creepy. The enemies were undead monsters throwng themselves at you so fast that I died a few times, but didn't get frustrated (TRACKIAN!). There was quite a bit of detail so I'm liking the graphics. Overall the graphics were nice.
SOUND:
Errm... 'twas alright.
GAMEPLAY:
Well, I must admit, this had some nice gameplay despite it's mediocre sound. Sometimes randomly and scarrily... apparitions appeared and scared the ____ out of me. I liked some of the optional things you could do like rescuing your colleagues and exploring different areas. The problem with rescuing your friends was that after that given you a bit of story they ran off at the speed of light. WTH? I was all like HAX and well, I have to say my colleagues were more scary than the enemies haunting me.
STORY:
Well, there wasn't much story and background information. I was a bit confused as to why random ghosts were killing everybody in some random facility with a random guy working there. This is what I can is the setting: either it is the nearby or far future and there are portals and undead/rabid people killing people in a futuristic facility OR you work in a building where they are developing portals. I thought that the random inclusion of a boss at the end of the game was a bit annoying and it really didn't explain anything but it was alright.
INTERFACE:
Oh the interface was awesome...
OVERALL:
It was a really nice play experience, I look forward to a sequel!

That's good. Glad I'm not the only one with this perspective.
