Sol Wars Review

Pros: See body.

Cons: See body.

This is freakin' sweet.

This is like something I've been wanting to do for a long time.

The graphics are smooth and unified, but received a slight nick for some blurry planets.

The sound is good. Weapons sound about right, and the music is quite enjoyable and appropriate. one minor quibble is the 'no shield' sound, which really grates on my nerves.

The gameplay is fun and interesting and fun, but not being able to warp directly to a trouble spot is very annoying. The computer will be telling me, "Ohes Noes! Alienzorz are hax0rzing S@turn!" so I'll run of to save Saturn, but it takes forever to get there, because I have to stop and correct my course, wait for the engines too warm up, and then get back to work. Also, the dreadnought is so ponderous that I wonder if the extra firepower is worth it.

The story is average, but I don't really care in this scenario.

The interface is solid, clean, and well laid out. Although, I wouldn't have minded having a 'dock' hotkey.

Also, it'd be nice if there was a reason to keep planets, like special weapons, or advanced shields. That way the planets wouldn't feel so interchangeable.
But overall, it's good.

My thoughts exactly... "Jupiter is being pwned" "Who cares? I have earth and the space station"
