The game about a worm, who grew too fast
Well, here is a game, somewhat different from most other games I've ever played, where you control a worm (unlike what the game title suggests, at least to me. I at first thought that this 'Death Worm' was the thing I'm gonna kill). Surprisingly, this is not quite like the classic Snake either, though taking the core concept of eating stuff. It's a different game with a unique gameplay and fantastic replay value. Well, that's the introduction, and here's my review:
=>First impression (before playing the game): Maybe a snake-like game? At least that what I thought from the screenshots.
=>Graphics and sounds: Two important aspects of a game which this game satisfies. The graphics may not be hi-fi, but they are appropriate. The worm is fine lookin'. Some graphics like those of the landmine and the explosions could have been better though. They are slightly out of place from the rest.
The music was very nice and created an action-filled atmosphere. Nothing to complain about in this part.
=>Gameplay: The basic concept of the game, as told in the description, is eating stuff to get points, attacking your victims from below the ground. Sounds simple, huh? Well, the idea may be simple, but the game ain't. Progressive levels of A.I. and more stuff to eat as you go doesn't let the player get bored. At first comes the simple animals, not knowing that death lurks just below them (unless you are an extremely lame player, you should be able to eat all of these). As the game progresses scouts, soldiers, tanks, helicopters, electricity tower and even UFOs come into the game, adding to the gameplay value. I didn't think coming from below the ground and snapping a victim would be so fun!
The controls are very simple yet effective.
In case of glitches/bugs, it's almost flawless. Just once though, the worm got stuck below and couldn't move. I had to restart then. But I haven't seen any other bug.
=>Lasting appeal: Well, this game can last forever, it's a casual game after all. Trying to get a high score is the main aim, and the lasting appeal is huge.
=>Overall, this gets a 5/5 from me (can't show it in stars because of YoYo's behaviour). Wonderful piece of work.
