Pros: Nice graphics, nice music, and a pretty good story
Cons: Interface wasn't incredibly intuitive, rather boring

Overall Rating: 8.5/10
This game seems like a great accomplishment for a gamemaker game. Great graphics, and tactical gameplay complete with some great ai makes this a potential star. However, the situations you find yourself in seldom give you that feeling of winning a tense strategic situation you find in truly great tactical situations. Also, there is a lack of progression, except for that of the story. Your character don't change or 'level up' at all. You fight with different people every time. I never really felt inspired to finish the game, except to play the story to the end. Hopefully you have played a tactics game before, because a lack of tutorials makes the only way of figuring out how to play the game reading the boring help document. Some pictures would have done a lot to help spice it up.My last complaint is that the interface didn't feel very intuitive. Some way to easily cancel out of actions (like by right clicking) would have been nice,
However, those complaints shouldn't stop you from enjoying this game. The levels look great, and the music fits well with the situation. My only small complaint with the graphics was the infamous show_message which popped up throughout the game. It wasn't even changed to fit with the games theme, making it stick out like a sore thumb.
While it lacks much true depth, Hovendall Tacts can be a blast to play if you're into strategy games. Even if you aren't you can ooh and ahh at the pretty graphics and the solid story.
