Gauntlet Revisited Review
By True Valhalla on 24 December 2008

Pros: Stylised graphics, great sound, a straighforward interface and potentially addictive gameplay.

Cons: Slow initial levels, no built in help.

Spectacular Dungeon Crawl

NOTE:This was meant to be a comment that got too long

Ok, I've played for a bit now, and I must say I was quite impressed. This game is of very high quality. The gameplay is basic [i'm only up to lvl 4 so far :P], but it makes for that 'Diablo'-ish feel, which can lead to a very addicitve game. I hope people aren't put off by the repetative and generic first 2 levels, because it really starts to pick up after that, and i'm sure it only gets better.

No need to comment on the visuals, as they are obviously very detailed, fitting and clean.

I was going to make this a comment, but since it's reached 500 words already, i'll review :)

The sound effects were of particular high standards, and as was the interface, which is one of the best designed I have seen from a GM game. The menu system was equally well done, though the slow transitions aren't to my liking. I gave this a 2 for story, since this is more of an action based dungeon crawl than a story telling epic.

The game appears to suit your goals while designing, and even though I haven't played the game this was based off, I suspect you hit the nail on the head.

If I had to make some improvements, I would either alter the first few (1&2) levels of the game either smaller or more immersive, and I would add some game tips in these levels too. I only figured out the button for potions when I quit to menu.

Overall, I quite enjoyed this, and even though it'll be hard as hell to beat all 30 levels, I'll give it my best shot ;o

Congratulations!
