Super Mario Galaxy PC Review
By Froodjakle on

Pros: Good music, although not original. Background graphics are okay.
Cons: BORING gameplay, crappy gravity (Yes, that's right, I said it's crappy, because it is,) nearly IMPOSSIBLE jumps, glitches left and right, Mario doesn't have a jump animation?!
Super Mario Galaxy PC review
Super Mario Galaxy PC is yet another game made by somebody who took an engine, tried to make something out of it, and failed. The only real plus, is the good music, and background graphics, and even the background graphics are screwed up at times.
The gameplay is TERRIBLE, with glitches left and right, no new additions except for a space bar "spin" that works NOTHING like the real thing, glitchy dust that sometimes comes from Mario's STOMACH, and a few typos (a minor complaint.)
Mario's animations are crappy and inconsistent, he doesn't even have a jumping animation! Mario NEEDS a jumping animation, jumping is what Mario is all about! Also, significant over-usage of the built in GM effects.. It would be nicer if you at least set up a particle system, or made some type of custom effect.
Story has NOTHING new to it. It doesn't even cover everything the real Super Mario Galaxy does, it's like it throws the game into a blender, chops it up, and uses about one fourth of the stuff you see in the real game, which is why I gave story a one. Unoriginal, goes way too fast, and not told very well. There isn't even an intro scene with Peach inviting Mario to the castle, you just pop into an area and walk forward, visiting Peach's castle for no reason at all. Would be VERY confusing to anybody who hasn't played the real thing.
Sound effects are okay, even though they don't come from Super Mario Galaxy. Music sounds good, but makes the game take forever to load.
The controls are okay, at least you don't have to go reaching way across the keyboard to do anything, but the menu screen is ugly at best.
Overall, I don't see why everybody has so much hype over this game. It's a complete ripoff of the real Super Mario Galaxy, the gravity is bad, and that's being generous, the story has already been used before, graphics are inconsistent, sound effects and music are okay, gameplay is boring, and there's nothing that makes it better to play this game, than the real Super Mario Galaxy.
2/6.
