Pros: Nice sprites and backgrounds, nice music, loads quickly, nice idea utilizing the mouse for level selection, interesting level design

Cons: No instructions, several pixel-perfect jumps, harsh timing for triple jumps and wall-climbing, inability to change direction after jumping

New Super Mario World Critique

After figuring out that 'Z' was the jump button after about five minutes, this game was interesting. I like many of the systems brought from Super Mario 64 such as the triple jump and wall jump; however, the timing on these is rather acute making their use a bit frustrating, especially since once you jump you can't change direction. Also, there are some collision problems occurring when standing too close to wall and being unable to jump and sticking to the sides of the springs. I like the use of the Super Mario 64 power meter, but the white text was a bit hard to read.

Despite my criticisms, I can see this becoming a very good Super Mario clone with a little bit of work.

Thank you very much for your review, mattrified. I'll make movement in air a bit faster, and give some extra leeway with the triple jump, but I'm not sure how I'll manage with those springs, I haven't found a way to make it work without use of a mask, which would totally ruin how he actually goes down with the spring. Anyway, since this is still a beta game, I'll add in some instructions later on when I actually get a menu going, and attempt to fix the corner glitch.
