Eternal Trial Review
By ABProductions on

Pros: Loved the menu, great graphics (especially liked the archaic patterns), good originality
Cons: Needs more puzzle elements upon progressing, music could change after a while, slightly 'boxed in'
Puzzle-platformer
Eternal Trial by Eterno Games (Eterno343):
Once there were two brothers, Plu and Min. Plu and Min were always the complete opposites of each other.
Then disaster struck, and both Plu and Min died at exactly the same time.
Now you must lead the brothers through the Bridge Realm to find eternal paradise.
As you may be able to tell from the story, the game has a pronounced theme of symmerty in addition to being a puzzler.
Graphics
Its a safe bet with Eterno's games that the graphics are going to be respectable and ambitious- no exception here. Well executed use of archaic patterns and good character shading. The menu was creative too.
Sound
---Music
The BGM was the same song looped. Be it alone, it was still quite good- Metroid/LoZ-esque; sort of adventurously epic. Would've liked to see (or hear) more variation of song in the game though.
---SFX
Does the game it's justice. Good menu sound (reminded me of a sound they used for Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire for the N64), standard issue 'thud' SFX.
Gameplay
Eternal Trial's gameplay is more of what I would call a puzzle than a platformer for this reason: there's no real 'adventuring' aspect here- its got more of a room-by-room; puzzle-by-puzzle setup. But it does have platforms. So, as a puzzle-platformer, its alright- it does need some more puzzle elements like the switches. As for difficulty, it was challenging sometimes. The level design was repectably intuitive.
Overall
Its got some places that could be improved, most notably the addition of more puzzle components, however the graphics were top-notch and the game was very sleek and polished.
