Karoshi 2.0 Review
By Rubber Ducky on 19 April 2008

Pros: Humorous design, creative puzzles, wonderful music, I don't remember there being, just overall fun to play

Cons: Can get frustrating (but mainly solved by placing blindingly obvious levels in there), the graphics could be a bit better, story doesn't make too much sense unless you translate the title

Karoshi 2.0 is an improvement!

When I first booted up the game, I got the impression that this was going to be a wild ride. The 'Press any key' loading sequence made me laugh. I looked at the menu and saw all the levels and I was overjoyed, as I thought the last game was quite short.

GRAPHICS:

The graphics were pretty well done, and I'm beginning to like the character that I got annoyed by in the last game. Although the movement of the character still bugs me, and since I saw that all the time I gave it a 5/6 instead of a 6/6.

SOUND AND MUSIC:

The sound was quite well done (although the music was quite loud and it was hard to hear the sound). The music was also very nice, and I loved selection 3. ;)

But because I could barely hear the jumping sound and lots of other sounds (I know they are there, I can faintly hear them), I give it a 5/6.

GAMEPLAY:

The gameplay rocked and was improved from the last game. The game was just fun, in a glorified mix of all the graphics, sound, music, and level design. Although it can get frustrating, all games have that, and you placed enough simple levels throughout the game to make it happen less often.

The gameplay, I give it a 6/6

STORY:

There isn't much of a story unless you translate the title, which 'Karoshi' means 'Death by working too hard', which explains the office objects like the trash bin and plastic plant.

INTERFACE:

Although I also was annoyed by the crowded menu in the last game, I didn't feel that same way about this menu, even though there were even more objects in the menu. You also removed the annoying blood wrapped around the screen from the first one, so I give you a 6/6.

OTHER:

The mini games are just awesome. I love the Karoshi 1 Speedrun (my high score is 53), and the Diversion (which has no point as far as I can see).

Although not shown on the ratings above, I give the mini-games a 6/6.

OVERALL:

5/6

Great job!
