Dinvert Review
By NT on 20 March 2008

Pros: appealing graphics, nice effects, okay sound and music

Cons: Large file size, no solid storyline, not much to do,

Just effects?

Graphics: The graphics in Dinvert were nice and appealing. They also tended to fit well together. They have a cartoonish style, but appear nice. There are some minor clashes. The buttons in the menu and for the Fruit Gun seem to be shaded different than the characters. 5/6

Sound: The sounds in the game were okay, nothing special. But, the sounds seem to fit the game. There could be more (Like a splash when the dolphins go into the water in the first level). As for the music, they seem to be very familar, with an extra background music added in. It blends okay, but it's weird. The background music also got fairly loud in some levels. 3/6

Gameplay: The gameplay is probably where this demo fails. The gameplay seems very promising, but as of now, there's nothing to do. You can jump, move, pick up and drop torches, wall jump, and get a Fruit Gun - which I think shoots fruit. The character stop responding when I got to the king. Dinvert resembles Red Hero, with a destructable terrain effect as well. Which, is pretty randomly put in. In the event where I went see the king, the player stopped and wouldn't move or jump. A character also asks for your name, which is flawed. It works at first, but later people just call you "Divert". That's not what I put. I also wasn't able to use the fruit gun, never got any ammo. 2/5

Story: I don't really see a storyline. You go from going to a town, to trying to save it. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, but we aren't told why he/she is going to the town and why it's beeing bombed. Making the game seem to be a project to test multiple effects. 1/6

Interface: The game is fairly easy, as of now, to do. You simply move with your arrow keys, click with your mouse, and pickup Torches. You drop the Torch with a different key, though. 5/6

Overall Rating: 3/6
The game has several flaws, plus a big game size. Improvements would be: a solid storline, more things to do when playing, as well as other things listed above in the review.
