Wubly Review
By King-Killa on
01 March 2008
Pros: Graphics, Sound, Huge Number of Levels, good number of modes.
Cons: Gameplay is too fast in some areas, and some modes are near impossible.
One heck of an addicting game.
Wow, and excellent game. Where will I start? First of all, I'd like to say that this game delivers exactly what is promised in the description: A fast paced game with hundreds of levels. Secondly, I'd like to say that Wubly is a game that you won't be able to stop playing. You'll keep going and going until you eventually beat everything. Unless you give up easily.
That said, the game isn't exactly impossible, more that it takes good reactions and timing. Memory also plays a key part in some of the longer levels.
Here's the main part of the review..
GRAPHICS:
The graphics were very nice, and suited the style of game. A great use of effects, not to mention the excellent paint program that you can buy with your Ubly points. The menus were nice to look at, and the graphics were genuinely pleasant. 5/6
SOUND:
The sound in this game is absolitely brilliant. With a number of tracks (you can listen to them all at your pleasure if you buy them with your Ubly points) that were suited to the game, the music was also nice to the ear.
The sound effects again suited the game, and added in a lot of extra excitement. 6/6
GAMEPLAY:
The gameplay in this game is perhaps the opposite of what casualy gamers want. That said, it is extremely solid, without bugs and fluent. Although, I have found that I have had to take a star away because of the near-impossibility of Robot Mode and of some of the missions. 5/6
STORY:
The story was alright, though I'd like to see it come into effect more during the game. 4/6
INTERFACE:
Absolutely brilliant. The menus provided players with exactly what they want, in an easy to use, clickable environment. Wubly's home is also a perfect example of how great the GUI is.
Lost Marks:
Graphics: There wasn't exactly a "lost" mark here, just that I thought 5 was a more suitable mark than 6.
Gameplay: The near impossibility of some modes and some missions just took away from the player's experience a little bit.
Story: Again, these weren't exactly "lost" marks, however it could easily be improved.
Total Score: 5.25
In conclusion, Wubly is an excellent, addicting game that you'll find hard to stop playing. Not exactly for the most casual of gamers, however the gameplay would suit many.
