Legend of Shadow Review
By Excalibur333 on 22 February 2008

Pros: Graphics, Gameplay, Powerups, Pretty big levels, Awesome bosses! Addicting.

Cons: It needs different difficulty options because it is to hard for some people.

One of my favorite Gamemaker games.

When I fist found gamemaker 5.3 one of the main websites I went to was Gamemakergames.com. It had a large archive of gamemaker games and I would go down the list clicking on cool game titles. Legend of Shadow sounded really cool and I wasn't disappointed. When I found it though, I was on one of the computers at my high school and so I was having a real hard time playing the game when the teacher wasn't watching. Even though my first experience was kind of interrupted allot I still knew that I loved the game.

Graphics.
The graphics are very retro (which is good since it was built for a retro contest) and they all matched very well. The menu is absolutely beautiful and fits the game perfectly. There isn't really much to say here other than that they are perfect for the game.

Sounds/Music.
The sounds all fit the game nicely and even replace background music in some parts (which I think adds a different but satisfying feel to the levels). My favorite sound is when an enemy dies =), It gives me an awesome since of accomplishment ;). The music is great and follows the style of the game.

Story.
Well there isn’t much to say here other than you have to save your girlfriend from the evil ninjas who kidnapped her, simple but suiting.

Gameplay.
The gameplay in this game is quite simple but very fun and I think, strongest point of the game. I found myself laughing when I jumped just high enough to clear a cave spike, but not to high to get hit by the falling boulder, and then cut a bad guy down still in mid air as the boulder that just missed me came crashing down on the other bad guy following me. =). The ability to jump so high and block throwing stars really added aot to the game and made me feel like a skilled ninja.

All in all it is well worth playing and even downloading onto your computer/laptop so you can play it whenever you want.

After trying to play it on the school computer I got it on my home computer but I left it on the school computer and notice later that year, when the teacher wasn't in the classroom, another student that I didn't know, cutting through a bunch of bad ninjas to save his girlfriend.
