Congratulations to all the members who took part and entered their finished game in 72 hours. It took over a week for votes to come in and we now have the winners below!

1st place: Carmageddon by Robert3DG+

http://www.virtualrealmsgames.com/stuff/Carmageddon_JamRelease.zip

Taking place in a futuristic city, the city police have recently got annoyed with how you jaywalk, take candy from babies and act like a jerk. So they've sent out hundreds of military grade hover drones after your ass! Dodge them for as long as you can and use the space bar to fire your machine gun! It may be weak, but the bullets are infinite. Radical! We need a price check... on chumps!

2nd place: Sophia's Spirits by IceMetalPunk and TheUltimate

3rd place: PolyGravity by YellowAfterLife

http://solidfiles.com/d/c0906/

This game has 'vector' graphics and is based on dynamically changing gravity. This law of physics changes as you move around and interact with objects, providing challenges. A puzzle game with quirky backgrounds and ambient musice creating atmospheric levels, a fun and challenging 360 platformer.

Honorable mentions;

4th place: Zombie Zoo Murder Case by Yal

YoYo Games wish to give a big up to indie developer Curve Studios who released ‘Stealth B*st*rd’ a week ago. A 2D platformer filled with traps that requires the player to creep about, ducking behind cover and hiding in the shadows and being sneaky aka Super Meat Boy meets Metal Gear Solid! Not only is this a brilliantly fun game to play, it’s completely free!

Curve Studios, famous for developing ‘Explodemon!’ & ‘Fluidity’ games, developed ‘Stealth’ using GameMaker. Designer Jonathan Biddle says “I’ve been using it (GameMaker) for nearly seven years and really enjoy it. It’s very quick and flexible, and it’s surprising what it’s actually capable of.”

For those that enjoy being horribly dismembered through 28 levels we suggest you give it a go... http://www.stealthbastard.com/

HTML5 News

News this week comes from Adobe halting development on Flash Player for mobile browsers. This is good news for those with GameMaker:HTML5!

We believe the next defining technology for both social and mobile platforms to be HTML5. We saw an ideal opportunity to bring the ease of development GameMaker delivers, into the world of HTML5. GameMaker gives an incredibly rapid development cycle, far quicker than what has traditionally been used for games, and one which YoYo Games itself has used time and again to produce iOS and Android hits. We therefore spent some time working out if the platform would be suitable for HTML5, and once we got some of our games running, it became apparent that it would not only work, but prove to be an incredibly powerful platform to use.

The favour towards HTML5 as the only platform for all future social and mobile game development has steered our business focus on releasing GameMaker:HTML5 and soon to launch, GameMaker Studio Edition.

YoYo News

We have a new sign up on the homepage of the website for those who are interested to be the first to receive news and advance information on all things GameMaker. If you have already signed up on our previous HTML5 news you are already on this mailing list and do NOT need to sign up again. We have an exciting promotion coming later with one of our recent game releases. We will keep you posted though so you don’t miss out!

We have had reports from customers that there is an issue where small minorities of purchases are not successful. Paypal has not completed the purchase or is preventing it going through. If you have a Paypal reference then please send to the helpdesk https://yoyogames.mojohelpdesk.com  so we can check.  To combat this recent disruption we are introducing new methods in the very near future so hopefully it will resolve this by providing alternative methods of payment. I’m sure this will be a welcome addition to those who have experienced Paypal difficulties in the past.

Happy Halloween from YoYo Games! Oct

GameMaker News

Apple have just changed the Mac App Store acceptance rules. Any applications need to support a new Sandboxing feature that requires special intervention (if you do not used the latest Xcode). Fortunately GameMaker for Mac apps DO support it J

Making life easier and to be able to get your GameMaker work onto the App store is the App Composer 1.3! App Composer is a little tool that lets you package Mac Applications for the App Store with little hassle. This features Sandboxing, improved signing that targets GameMaker for Mac (signs the yoyosound and SDL frameworks) and other extras. Grab this for free here - http://www.vetragames.com/software/

We have a couple of new games to be released in early November through YoYo Games. The latest titles have been in production for a while and we have been busy preparing these for the ever expanding, different platforms we now publish on. Look out for these exciting announcements very soon!

There will be a small new update to GameMaker Standard this week and not far behind that will be another for GameMaker:HTML5.

GameMaker Studio is in the works, we do not have a release date YET but we will announce this here when we do. For those with GameMaker:HTML5, you will be to upgrade to this easily at a discounted rate. We do not have full information on this yet so hold off on asking, we WILL inform everyone when we know what this will be.
