Game In Scotland 2012 Mar
26

YoYo Games attended the Game In Scotland event in Dundee over the weekend. This is the place where Scotlands' top games development studios come together once a year to give presentations and give advice from games design to job opportunities.

YoYo team members Malcolm, Scott and Gavin were on the YoYo stall and enjoyed a very busy afternoon speaking to a lot of interested people about our forthcoming release - GameMaker: Studio.

We would like to thank everyone who came along and spoke to us on GameMaker, YoYo Games or passing on a CV.

Pocket Gamer Readers Choice Awards - Karoshi Mar
21

Unlike the Pocket Gamer Awards 2012 which concluded at the start of March (http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/pgawards2012.asp), the Readers' Choice list is entirely composed of submissions by the Pocket Gamer audience during the Awards' 'open nominations' round over the past couple of weeks – simply taking the ten most popular games per format category in order to determine the shortlist.

You'll find the rundown of nominations here:

http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/readerschoice2012.asp

In amongst the big boys like Nintendo, Gameloft and Chillingo- our very own Karoshi is nominated in the Readers Choice Award for Android! So if you love Karoshi as much as we do, please champion this quirky salesman and submit your vote.

You have from now until the close of the Awards at the end of the month to get to vote for your favourite. Thank you in advance for all your support from all the team here at YoYo Games!

Stick Em Up demo - BAFTA Young Game Designers Award Mar
17

This past month we have been busy with the BAFTA Young Game Designers 2012 Award winners advising and turning thier game concept 'Rolling Scotch' into a working prototype game, now renamed as Stick Em Up

For those unfamiliar with what BAFTA is, The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) supports, promotes and develops the art forms of the moving image; film, television and video games, identifying and rewarding excellence, inspiring practitioners and benefiting the public.

The Game

The main character in the game Scotch, is a roll of tape with a badass cowboy attitude. He's the Clint Eastwood of inanimate objects. Traveling across the wild West, he's being hunted down by the authorities for a wrongly accused crime. As well as sheriffs, Scotch needs to fight through the creatures of the west in order to reach his goal- his family in California.
