The more you play the better you get, I find that the element of luck disappears once you master the right-click boost (remember it can be used after every bounce)

the purpose is to get it back into the solved state, which is whatever you specify it to be. Thats what the colors are for. when you scramble the puzzle it mixes up the colors.
