not bad but the movement is a little sketchy... to make it smoother add this little simple trick.
Step:
xprevious=x;
and then to make the landings even more smooth add a check in the collision with the block/platform.
if (!place_free(x,y+vspeed)
{
move_contact_solid(direction,vspeed)
vspeed=0;
}
you will notice nothing different other then smoother landings and movement

eh controls are weird the jump is slow and annoying just a bit sloppy maybe some more work will make it interesting right now it is just a platformer game nothing spectacular
