Er, the good guy is the goal of yours, which means you'll have to collect all the items before you go to the good guy or goal and proceed to the next level. Sorry I didn't mentioned it clearly. =)

Had a quick game - the controls are rather sticky, the jumps cancelled by moving left or right. I got across the screen to some good guy character, but nothing happened. Perhaps I should have pressed some key, but perhaps it should have activated on contact.

Ah, I get you. I think that needs to be in game, perhaps you could use a sound sample when you run into him, saying you need to collect everything?
I still think the controls are rough - have you had a look at the code for that? Or have you looked, but couldn't figure how to smooth it? PM me if you need some help with that.
