The controls are pretty neat, but it's very hard to see the walls.
maybe you could give horizontal walls and vertical walls different colors.

needs a better way of telling where the walls are. once you get 5 in a row, it looks solids in any direction, and you find yourself hitting random buttons till it moves

Pretty nice, but I kept getting stuck because I couldn't see the walls. Could you like change the color or something? Other than that, you did a good job! Well done!
